arkvs are well known faces to us and have been shifting gears throughout 2017. this year will be no different as they deliver yet again with “texture ep”. four easy going techno tracks that bring in the vibes just right along with some spacey synths.

reaching its 15th release, amphia sees the return of cezar lazar’s double ep, intuitively called “archetypes”. known for his innovative approach both behind the decks and productions, cezar’s creative alter-ego enacts a variable puzzle with hard-edged sonic pieces laid out over five tracks, each with their own distinct acoustic palette. side a holds “equtime”. this side-long track envelops a stripped-down melody with perforated rhythmical pads, fleshed out with disconnected threads of vocals. side b is dedicated entirely to “badgervox”. displaying a weighty bass section alongside the shuffled percussion work, its intricate melody is integrated smoothly creating a unique soundscape. “thicken court” holds the first half of side c. sharp in its composition, it holds an assorted percussion ensemble and a collection of fizzy waveforms. they complement a thunder-like bass protagonist that holds the center stage. we continue with “boe dark”, where textures and sharp tones grow in layers upon layers creating tension. the apex is reached when modular timbres are hindered by sparse piano patterns, completing this electro-acoustic scenery. on the flipside, “wedmar” holds the key to our puzzle with its accurate four-to-the-floor feat. with a series of programmed overlapping organ vibes, the sound feels both piercing and intense, creating a sort of sensory impairment. “archetypes” displays cezar lazar s gentle subtleties and fluency in different dialects of idm.

dj seinfeld presents an immersive ep exploring the balance between fragility and force. ‘sakura ep’ is the third and most dynamic offering from deep sea frequency. four tracks draw from a multitude of influences, breaks, electro, dub and trance elements band together with a familiar lo-fidelity approach where distortion acts as an instrument of its own. ‘sakura’ is a subaquatic dose of old school electro with swollen bass and fuzzy harmonics. title track ‘segrada’ brandishes swirling melodies with layers of detail, followed by ‘belvedere’ which uses looped breaks and a sub-driven bassline to build animated funk. ‘battery’ closes things out with a nod to detroit, and a full on drum workout which plays with delicate melodic inflections over a cavernous low end.

following hammer s stand out release on loft records last year, canna gets the remix treatment by four killer producers. first up, lauer adds his trademark flavour to the already outstanding title track canna , bending the mind with an acidic top line and classic korg m1 bells.the a2 sees supreems take the techno edge off man ray replacing the drums with a more electro tinged style of rhythm, whilst echoing the synths into the back of the mix to let the drums take the foreground. flip it over and you get two reworkings of manaka . firstly, domenic cappello switches the breaksy flow of the original for a more club ready kick to compliment those stabs, in turn elevating the breakdown to greater effect. in contrast, lord of the isles dives deeper into the breaks feel of hammer s original, adding glitchy samples and oddball synth lines to take this one an even more interplanetary tip.

emotional rescue delves deep in to the past with the release of the first ever recordings by uk post-industrial, ambient pioneers o yuki conjugate (oyc). recorded in nottingham in 1983, the ep s four tracks showcase oyc s early sound: a beat-driven, lo-fi that places them alongside the early british electronic pioneers.

the second intergraded is a four tracker from hi & saberhaegen, the brainchild of two producer/djs from scotland and ireland respectively. they first met midland at a gig at sneaky petes in edinburgh where they booked him to play at the club (where they also hold a residency). having previously played their music on anthony naples proibito and huntleys and palmers he was keen to hear what else they had been working on. what followed was selection of tracks that ended up being distilled down to the light on leaves ep. without relying on superlatives and detailed track by track descriptions, its an amazing record that reveals itself with every listen and one we are really proud to have on the label.

for brainstem casino s take off, strictly hardware voyager *sour* generated «quantum process», an ep that comprises four, rather spartan yet not the current i-put-three-sounds-so-it s-minimal, haunting and deepseated downtempo tracks. the first segment of the (limited to 300 copies) 12-, 140gr. polyvinyl chloride chunk, which extends to 9:22 minutes commences with muffled and fathomless pads. then a three steps acidish build up subtely incises through like a reptilian sword coming out of an another dimension. the next track is in a similar vein, however, uplifted presence of cowbells and tight repetitive drums sways towards a house/funk guidance. side b s a staggering 12:19 minutes crepuscular descent into crying structures referencing to 90 s sci-fi universes. additionally coming along with the digital download, is a downreaching, abysmal ambient track called «cleavage». yes, either in your confortable conapt or in a decaying, technological dystopian, space-cargo style gig, this will drive your audience to definitive brain melting!

with fractal s analogue assassin ep, dubliner dave hayden (alias roguefrequency) delivers four acid/techno bangers openly displaying industrial influences. jerked off sturdy analog gear, the solid 808, 909, 4/4 rythmics is skirmished by cavelike 303 acidic patterns. rearguard consists of sunless modular synths and gritty atmospheric drones. as a certificate of choice, the release has already been supported by dj s such as unwelt, errorbeauty & and. like always on kromatones, it s limited to 300 copies pressed on 140gr. 12- vinyls coming coloured, this time with transparent blue. so, obivously we got here some rather stealth yet smashing tactical cruise sonic machine!

for the first time iron curtis enters the ring over the full ep length for uncanny valley. there hasn t been much of a discussion whether or not this is something for uncanny valley when iron curtis approached the four label heads with this new pile of dance floor material. these tunes are too good. iron curtis must have been particularly inspired by the muse while producing these four outstanding house tracks. you ll feel a comprehensive knowledge about dance music s history when listening. no doubt, the franconian who is now based in berlin has spent a good time of analysing house music s techniques. -sweet romancer- is the best example for his studio eloquence. modulated synths, a classic bass line and a whole batch of drum ideas are combined into a wonderful track. the interplay between subtlety and vitality characterizes -nixdorf danse-. plus, you won t forget those strings. on -triroom- he proves that he has a knack for melodies as well. finally, -take me home- should provide a lot of emotional moments on the dance floor with its dramatic piano and crescendo-like synth line.

celldod is swedish producer anders karlsson. anders has been active in the music scene for some time working on different musical projects, always with a strong diy ethic his celldod project has released several cassettes under his own label brutal disciplin and has also released records on suction records, kess kill and femur records. in 2017 anders released an album under the name vargd?d on opal tapes together with swedish techno artist varg. anders hardware driven sound has evolved over time now personifying finely sharpened ebm and techno crossover of the highest calibre. with a nod to the greats but with a forward thinking direction, we have four new cuts to destroy the darkest dance floors. relentless, bass-heavy and blown-out bangers. fans of daf and maybe 242 meets silent servant will be blown away. mastered by martin bowes at the cage, uk.

after establishing their indigo aera label over the last seven years, amsterdam figures jasper wolff & maarten mittendorff now step up onto delsin with a four track debut ep which includes a remix from the legendary sterac. jasper wolff & maarten mittendorff are long time players on the amsterdam scene as residents at de school, esteemed label bosses who have put out music by the likes of kirk degiorgio, stephen brown and louis haiman, and as producers with a richly atmospheric dub techno sound. steve rachmad aka sterac joined the studio for the mix down of all tracks, and also provided a dub version of tesseract. it completes a package of deep and artful techno that is laced with beautiful ambience.

emanton (dann abala) is an argentinian producer, electronic musician and thereminist. after studying with synth maestro ernesto romeo, dann began producing under emanton and also has an experimental alias as turvia. here we have what emanton perfectly describes as hard esoteric/mystical/ mega darkness sound. four dark and pounding tracks with leanings toward industrial in uences and maintaining a consistently propulsive sound-design techno vibe. carefully crafted with a diverse spread of analog gear/synths and modular instruments. absolutely perfect example of the transfusions aesthetic.
